2 pm Central European Time. In Moscow, the Russian government announces a pension increase. In Brussels, the European Commission decides to impose punitive tariffs on jeans and whisky from the USA, among others. This is in response to punitive tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on European products, including steel. Verica Markovic, a young physician, leaves her Belgrade flat. The youngest of four daughters is flying to Germany, where she will work as a surgeon in a small town. She leaves three hours before departure. But the Belgrade traffic is hell, and soon she fears to miss her flight. In Sweden, Theresa and her team arrive in the town of Jönköping. They are women gamers and want to win at the Dream Hack Conference, which is a kind of Woodstock for gamers - the biggest lan party in the world. The system of waterways in the northern Italian city of Milan was developed over 700 years. Leonardo da Vinci designed the locks. Among the 1.3 million inhabitants of the Lombard capital today are many students. One of them is Eduardo. Born in 1997, he suffers from a rare metabolic disease and hopes that science will do more research into his illness. Because at the moment, his life expectancy is only forty years. Until recently, however, most of those born with his disease died in childhood, even in Europe. In the region around the French city of Toulouse, Ibrahim still drives out medicines. He covers up to 700 kilometres a day, all the way to the Pyrenees. On his routes, he takes breaks in between to pray, because he is a devout Muslim.
