Blind

Suzanne (Demi Moore) lives with her husband Mark in the luxurious world of the rich and beautiful in New York - until he goes to prison for dirty financial deals. Suzanne is hit less hard - she is sentenced to community service. To be more precise: Suzanne is supposed to read to the blind writer Bill (Alec Baldwin) in an institution for the blind. But apart from words and friction, the two soon have feelings for each other. Susanne and Bill fall in love, and the frustrated author rediscovers his joy in life and writing. However, their happiness is short-lived when the aggressively ambitious Mark is released from prison early and tries to abruptly destroy his wife's new love. “Moore, who was so often miscast in her youth, has waited a long time for a role like this. Though much quieter and less showy, she dominates the movie, and her reactions ultimately have more impact on the things that matter than the men's actions. It's the perfect opportunity for her to take the mickey out of her carefully constructed Hollywood image and show that behind the slick facade lies a fragile, cantankerous and much more interesting person. The sets are superbly designed, with the deliberate alternation between flat and complex backgrounds inviting the viewer to become more aware of the visible dangers and clues to the character.
