The Caste Struggle

How can democracy come to rule a society that had been built entirely around the principle of inequality amongst men? India has implemented a policy of affirmative action (positive discrimination) for the members of the “backward castes” representing more than half of the population. Those who will benefit from the policy will be employed as civil servants. The film explores a controversial reform that has brought unprecedented social and political change in India.
